Repotting in South Australia

Australian conditions vary from one extreme to another. What do you do and when do you do it?

Repotting in South Australia

Post by Nafretiri_Mutnodjmet »

Hi all
I've never re-potted a plant before, but when is it a good time to consider re-potting a ginseng ficus and microcarpa ficus tree in South Australia, especially consider the weather and season?
Also where abouts in SA (between Clare to Adelaide) is there a good bonsai nursery or garden store that sell suitable bonsai soil.
Plus how do you re-pot bonsais exactly? What tools are used? Would I need to fertilizer straight after?

Thank you
:)

P.S I apologize if this in the wrong forum

Check out the Wiki for when to do what, I assume Ginseng would be a tropical tree, so can be done the same time as ficus

As for how to repot a tree, the simple process is to remove from the pot, Trim back the roots by 1/3 and then repot into new soil.

lol I know, I just like getting vary of opinions from others who have experienced it. Youtube is useful to see it in action, but I find reading what people suggest has its uses to, as I find it easier to refer back to sometimes.
