Seriously...wow!
I was most impressed at the way Mr Yusuke could apparently see the result from the beginning. I certainly could not. I tried last night when I saw the first progression shots and could not work our exactly where he was going.

I can see this tree being a great tree with no trouble at all 
good to see people working with the tree an going with what suits the tree rather then following rules of bonsai 
this hobby is all ways evolving an will continue to do so they say a picture is worth a 1000 words an the last picture when the tree is finished says them all an some.

I'm glad I didn't know this was happening during the week. I would never have gotten any study done or even gone to work.

Hi Grant, what did you learn from watching how Yusuke worked with this tree?
I realise that you gave the tree completely over to him styling wise, but as experienced as you are you probably had your own ideas of how he may have tackled the styling of this tree...so, did he do anything that you did not antisipate or did it turn out as you thought it would?
I ask because you obviously got to know this tree very well whilst developing it. And as with most material, as nice as the tree is, from the pics it seemed that it had some areas that needed careful condsideration.
I am impressed with the styling and how Yusuke used as much of the branches as he could possibly use.

An amazing job and also a wonderful vision to complete the work. I imagine there would have been some plans made on the run, as these projects sometimes dont go as planned. I am pleased his talent is being utilised within the Aussie Bonsai community. Thanks for the comprehensive thread Grant.

I was really interested to see the techniques and skills he employed. I have not seen those skills employed that close over such an extended period by a true bonsai no nonsense artist. He is definitely more conservative(or experienced) as to how far he can/will push the tree in terms of bending and overnight temps and recovery etc.
There are major changes still to make with the back branches in terms of amount of foliage, increased bending, grafting, etc. The back branches were amazingly elongated that they will take about four years to compact.
