Sunday just gone one of my favorite potters had a sale viewtopic.php?f=102&t=15184 and like many I took the opportunity to grab a few bargains... Having said that I couldn't resist looking thru the rest of her stock & picking up a butterfly https://www.peter-krebs.de/index.php?pag ... ly-english.
I am passionate about pots & appreciate the work that goes into making a good pot, the knowledge & skill to create a great glaze is a whole other level & something Penny excels at. It is interesting to me that many would pay more for a moulded pot from Japan than they would for a hand made piece by a local potter, especially when its the likes of these. I had no hesitation in paying full price & would happily have paid more for the butterfly & this gem.....
If you have the opportunity to visit Penny or see her work at a show don't hesitate, I know her next outing is the AABC convention in Canberra & a load of new work is being made for all you lucky ones going, don't miss your chance to get a great piece of aussie bonsai pottery...

I completely agree Matt with the "buy unique, buy handmade and buy from Aussie potters" theory. We should support our local artists and of course each pot is different, special and has its own characteristics that sets it apart from all the others.
I'm not opposed to buying Japanese pots, but I do prefer to buy local.
And one more plug, Penny will be at the Goulburn Bonsai Society exhibition in Goulburn in October selling her goods.

We are getting to Canberra early so I might have first dibs on some.
I am also a believer, that we should Patronage, our local potters in preference, for that Special pot for that Tree, we have some wonderful potters, and I have some wonderful pots with nice Australian natives in them.
