collected juniper where to start.
I collected this juniper today. As newbie especially to the juniper im Unsure on of the species. The specs of the tree in question.
From trunk base to very tip is 26 inch
The trunk is 1-1/4 inch through
And spans almost 32 inch
Has very established healthy root system. It was carefully dug to ensure all soils remained around the rootball it also helped that it was raining.pretty
Much Slipped from ground to larg pot. Any advice on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Can upload more clearer photos tomorrow if needed, will also keep this post updated on its progress.
Any advice and input would help me out greatly and it will all be welcome.

Re: collected juniper where to start.
With Junis I will now let it get accustomed to the new conditions and let it recover for at least 6 months or a Year.
sit back and watch it grow and develop while toying with ideas.
Take it slow and you will have a nice tree in a few short years, but it will be a while.

Thanks ken. So should i completely leave it or open up a little to let in some light.
I'm quite happy to let it go for while especially if it makes easier to work on down
Track.

Itll be getting plenty of light already mate. Leave it be in as much sun as possible (can be hard this time of year for us to find any sun haha). Give her some seasol in weak solution and a small bit of liquid fert every 3 or 4 weeks.
Think about styling after you know what species it is and after you know its healthy and growing again
.
Also it could be a species of cypress perhaps? Not sure though.

There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.

I will take a guess at Juniper sabina
The foliage and growth looks similar to one I have in the yard.

It would be easier to ID if we had a few clear photos of the foliage. And couldn't agree more with ken and mo, leave it for a year or so, then think about it. Being a newby myself, I have lost a few collected trees for being to eager to get into styling them. Once you find out species, then research that species until you are very confident you know it's patterns and your well on your way to creating a good looking tree out of it, before the snips and wires even turn up to the party.
Good luck with it, and nice collect.
