I only want to add that the winter silhouette looks great to me! Its a nice tree.

Good decision! I am really pleased you did not take a chunk out of the beech. I agree with Craigw in that it would have taken a very, very long time to heal, and despite many opting for dramatic chops, I feel that it can be forgotten just how long some species take to heal.
