dunno if you need the 2 lower right branches. they are thinner that ne one on the left

the left one, Wire out to the fined foliage, and then bend them all down to flatten out the growth there.
the next 2 above that, Bend down from the trunk to a bit lower than horizontal and then wire and flatten the foliage like the first branch.

Do the same with next group of branches under the apex

Have a look at what that looks like after that lot.

Ken, maybe to keep them as sacrifice branches to thicken the trunk?
I ask lots of questions that sound like suggestions. Please remember I am a inquisitive newbie trying to figure out why You made a particular decision, in order to learn.

Looks more like a Juniperus Sargentii to me?

In my opinon all the lower branches seem to be too far removed from the apex / top canopy.

I believe either...

* The top needs wiring to bring it down closer to the lower branches.
* Or the bottom branches should be moved closer to the top.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Thanks guys, I appreciate your in put, but a thought came last night and now it looks like this. I know it's got a ways to go yet. And can anyone tell me how well this may bud back?

Very poorly to back bud
They happen occasionally, and usually around where a branch is already exiting the trunk.
