New Accents from my new Camera.

Being a lucky bloke married to a very nice partner, I have a new camera, a Cannon 650D, now all I have to do is learn how to fly it and download pictures.

I have started small with some accents with the macro to see how I went. Not bad if I say so myself. Here is what I did. Names with pics.

I love macro lenses. I have a 5D Mark 2 and the 100mm full frame is just beautiful. So sharp. I should be less lazy and take my bonsai photos with the "real" camera and stop using the iphone, hahah!

At the moment until properly learned, auto. I did not realise that a manual of 371 pages and a CD Rom were part of the package. This thing will tie your shoe lases,I just haven't got to that part yet.

This is one of the early entries into the DSLR cameras, so the ones that cost 3/4 k must fly you around OZ.

Loving the learning curve though.

My other hobby is photography and I sell my images online via an agent. They have to be technically sound images at 100% zoom or they won't accept them. My acceptance rate went from 50% to 80% after I got my current camera. For most uses though, you don't need all the frills. The frills help with things like creating large prints and night photography and minimizing digital noise in low light images with high ISO, etc. The problem with my new cam is that it it HUGE and weighs a lot with a lens on it. I do a lot of tripod work though, so that helps.

I should also add that the camera can only give you great photos when you have good light. Direct sunlight and harsh on camera flash makes ugly hard edged shadows. Play with off camera flashes (you can get wireless kits) or try a diffuser or bounce flash off the ceiling in a white or pale colored room to get more pleasing results.

What do you mean by 100% zoom mate?

Most cameras have picture sizes more than 6MP now, so most people view them on their screens or print them at 4x6 or 6x8 print size. When I say 100% zoom I just mean viewing the full size image. You can't see the whole picture on the screen at one time, as it won't fit, but I have to edit and submit full size photos and they actually look at them at full size, looking for flaws, noise and artifact - can be tedious on a laptop, lots of scrolling!
