Joe is right, I enquiries directly and was told quite bluntly that Kaneshin has a supply contract with Brian and Megumi Bennet in Sydney. Kaneshin may do mail order to Australia on a retail basis but this would be in some way conflicting with this contract :reading: however Kaneshin reserve the right to sell their product to whomever they choose.

There are heaps of good tools on the market, I saw some rather good ones on the sales table at Bonsai Northwest which Jow may be able to tell you more about ;) http://www.bonsainorthwest.com.au/

In the end it comes down to what is comfy for you and perhaps has sentimental value. My toolbox is a real melting pot with a small pair of electrical wire cutters, 4-5 Kikuwa tools, one pair of heavy scissors from Japan, a couple of cheapo scissors for root cutting, some home made stuff and a good heavy pair of Felco seccys, (amongst a heap of other stuff :palm: that is perhaps too bizarre to mention).

Perhaps that part in brackets is worth a new topic :lost:

I've purchased stuff from kaneshin direct within the last six months, but with the dollar falling against the yen it might prove better value to buy stuff that is already in the country?
I do love what they make though, as a chef I'm used to maintaining the edge on a blade and there is something very satisfying about the metal they use - easy to look after and holds a good edge.
