My new PJ

Post by DustyRusty »

Nothing says Bonsai addiction like selling your guitars to suppport your tree habit. Or spending my annual leave driving to Nescis looking for stock. Bought this bad boy this afternoon. Needs some work but ready to work on a little primary but mostly secondary branching. A little root work needed but I love the character.

Just had to share.

Plan on it being a broom of sorts. Not the Japanese Zelkova super symmetrical style but something like a banyan style with a quirky trunk. Will need a largish crown to balance the base and some thickening of the primary branches. But need to think a bit more over the next month or so.

:imo: a broom style and a semi-cascade are the two natural fig styles- at least how I see them growing here in sydney. Raft happens but is more unusual.

I had a think. Ill make this a slating style, possibly a semi-cascade. It seems to utilise the powerful base well. Here's a virt I did on my phone while waiting in the car while my two year old sleeps. It's ugly but I think that's the direction ill head.

Just visited the National Collection for the first time about half an hour ago so Bonsai is on the mind.

na, the above idea got to me. Looked like it was going to fall over.

You can't beat a banyan, so here's the future of this boy. Will post updates as I work on it.
