Hi all,
I have a Hibbertia Scandens (Snake Vine)
Wouldn't mind some constructive advice and some tip on shaping this one.
I try to keep the vine rounded and try to encourage some lower growth but seems difficult to do.

Hi Ray,
I have always liked Hibbertia as a ground cover but only recently noticed how they developed a trunk and I wondered about using them for bonsai. Yours is the first I have seen. It looks like a healthy plant with a fair size trunk. What are its dimensions?
I can't offer much advice except to say it looks like it wants to be a cascade. The trunk may already be too tall to succesfully make a cascade of this one unless you can get some growth lower down.

Well I thought this was NOT a native are you sure? I always thought this to be a English native. You know have me intrigued.

Your last post was in 2009 so I very much doubt this will be replied to.
I recently purchased a hibbertia scanden from a nursery due to a nice interesting branches around the base of the tree. The cost of this being that the tree is already rather large and with a a few-non desirable aspects. I was wondering if you would be able to tell me any obsersvations/tips relating to the pruning or maintenance of your plant? Specifically your pruning method, if I am unable to contain and compact the leaf growth within the next two years or so I will be heavily pruning it and hoping for new development at the base of the tree.
If anyone else has tips on pruning this form of tree it would be appreciated.
