BONSAI THEFT

Post by Jeff »

BONSAI THEFT

On Monday morning, at 1:58 am, Chojo Feature Trees was broken in to. Fortunately, the alarms were triggered and the police were notified immediately (who are located four minutes down the road). The incident was filmed by 12 inferred cameras and the police have copies of the footage in order to id the thieves. No trees were stolen however there is some damage to the property. We will continue to improve our security at the nursery to prevent these unfortunate situations. All of our trees are photographed, coded and put into a register. If anyone has any information that may be helpful please contact the nursery.

I would like to thank the police for there continuing efforts. The investigation has been professional and efficient. They are aware of the collection and its location.

Let this be a warning to all bonsai collectors and enthusiasts. Be selective about showing your collection. Security lights and cameras can be effective in the right situations. Exercise caution in where you purchase bonsai. Contact a local club for reputable nurseries and enthusiasts.

Take care of your trees.

Regards,
Jeff Barry

theft of trees has always been a problem in the bonsai community.

These-days I only have enormous heavy trees in big pots so theft is difficult for a thief .

Worst part is that the people who are doing these things would probably have no idea how to care for the trees and they will end up perishing before they can sell them...
Glad to see that you came out on top though mate and all they have is their mugs on your cctv footage...hope they get a knock on the door soon.

Dear potential bonsai scumbag thief reading this,
Let it be known that my house and property have 8 cameras on 24/7
I don't need a dog as when you face me at 115kg bodybuilder with mix martial arts of 15 years. I am semi retired so anyone is always at home !! I'm home 95% of the time as I'm a dedicated family man who loves my family and bonsai ..

Try me...

Jeff, I'm sorry and agitated to hear your close call...
