Invitation to a DIG
Folks,
The Goulburn Bonsai Society will be having a dig for English Hawthorn on Sunday 1st September 2013 - yes I know its Fathers Day but what better way to treat dad than either digging a tree for him or allowing him to dig one?
After Grant Bowie's demonstration on hawthorn at Bonsai by the Harbour (that were dug on a previous dig just like this one) there was quite some interest by quite a few people in obtaining similar material, so we are pleased to invite you to dig one or two. If you are interested please PM me and I will be in contact when all the arrangements are made.
For those of you who worry about the ethics of digging, all these hawthorn will be bulldozed and burnt in the coming years so this is just saving them from destruction. It is on private land and the owner has given permission.
Most likely we will meet at 9:00 am or 10:00 am and then move in convoy to the site (not far out of town). The digging is easy and the company - well you will just have to see.
Cheers - Watto

Re: Invitation to a DIG
Just a bit of extra info on the dig for those who are attending. The plan is to meet at Maccas at around 9:30 am on Sunday 1st September and at 10:oo am head off to the dig location. There are two Maccas in Goulburn and we will be meeting at the one on the southern end of town. So if you are coming from anywhere north of Goulburn, take the second exit into the city and Maccas is just a few hundred metres after the roundabout. If you are coming from anywhere south of Goulburn, take the first exit into the city and Maccas is just down the road.
From there we will travel in convoy to the dig site. There are all sizes of trees to be dug from very small to very large, and everything in between. The digging is easy as these trees are located on a flood plane.
My recommendation is to bring the usual digging equipment, but a maddock, a shade and some strong cutting implement are essential from previous experience.

6 1/2 hours girls. Could make either a day or weekend trip of it. Although I will agree, probably make it a tireing day trip - what with all the digging. Sure wish I was a bit closer.

Re: Invitation to a DIG
There are only a few days to go, noy much time to sharpen those tools and do your pre-dig exercises. The Maccas we are going to is in Sowerby Street.
