Re: I promise its the last one
Here is the latest from this tree.
I trained some branches down in November and now it has thickened up again. It seems to be a strong tree.

Re: I promise its the last one
hi Squizzy thanks for the postings- its always great to keep a record of where you've been with a tree. Looks great to me and the sketches are great quality too!
Tell me about your mix? Is that scoria just on the top or is it indicative of the entire mix?
just interested that's all.
cheers
Stew

Re: I promise its the last one
Thanks for the compliments.
Stewart this is a mix i experented with a while back and it consisted of something like 70% 10mm scoria 20% sieved potting mix and 10% peat moss. The moss was supposed to help with soil acidity but I have since read that pines don't necessarily need it. It does however seem to work for this jbp and another white pine that I have growing in it. I have not done enough experimenting to come to any true conclusions.

Re: I promise its the last one

This tree has a heap of buds and I am hoping the fill the canopy out nicely this spring. That bottom back branch is labelled to be removed. I will try and post when the candles push out.

Re: I promise its the last one
You don't want to workshop with me Golgotha. This is one of the rare few I haven't made a mess of or killed.
We might both go to a workshop.

Re: I promise its the last one
heres an update of this tree.
I have got to say this is a tree that has co operated really well over the last two years or so since I picked it up from Rays nursery. I am fairly happy with branch structure remembering the two first back branches at the bottom are going but the will stay for now to assist thickening.
what are your thoughts.
I will follow up this tread with some pics.

My thoughts....
Your weeds are growing really well!
Looking good mate.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

True boics. Can't argue with that critique. I have had others commend my weed growing ability.
