juniperus procumbens aberrant form

Hi all,

This is a very old juniper procumbens and has never really been identified definitively.

It is loose, floppy, lime green to lime yellow, and goes to adult foliage at the drop of a hat.

Leo Koolwyn of Coolwyn conifers had never seen it before and could not name it.

The original owner got it as a cutting in 1969. It may have originally been from a batch grown by a specialist conifer grower that moved to near Bathurst, Ross Conifers.

Looking forward to working on it and have built a special work platform to support it while I work on it.

I must admit I am over full cascades so I gave it the big chop.

I may need to tip it over further or graft a jin at or near the apex.

Wow. That looks amazing. What a great trunk line. I hope you put the rest into cuttings That is going to be a cracker of a tree. Can't wait till the pads fill out a bit.

Thats what happens when you have been doing Bonsai for a long time.
When you can see the "tree within" and have the knowledge and commitment to make such drastic changes with confidence.

What was it someone said... Find the smallest tree you can, then cut it in half
