hi squizzy
it does not bother me because having front branch and back branch is just as important, if not more important, than having the side branches. with the first branch being almost half way up the length of the trunk, i don't mind having small branchlets coming off that to obscure a bit of the trunk line. otherwise it would seem to me "too naked". as long as the most interesting part (in this case, the bottom trunk line, the jin and the shari) are clearly visible and making a statement, all other elements of the tree(in this case, small front branchlets) will help adding interests to the overall appearance.

well, it's just my opinion.
