Relocation of old pines for the national collection

Post by Shannon »

Hi guy's I was digging through some old photo's last night and came across a few interesting ones.
I took these at Koreshoffs in 1995 I was lucky enough to have a tour of the private collection at the same time.

I believe these are the Pines that you just relocated to the grounds at the arboretum.

There was another bloke who complained about that Shannon.
I thank you for them. I was fortunate enough many years ago to meet both Dorothy and Deborah , the nursery.
Deborah was watering her collection my wife asked if we could see them, she invited us in, asking not to video down the back as the trees there were not up to the standard as they had been neglected for a while.

I was thrilled and took many pictures and a Video. Which I cherished, I was told it was one of the few ever of her collection.

Imagine my despair after lending it to my youngest son to watch, not taking out the tab to stop it being recorded over. My granddaughter looking for a tape used it.

For a music video tape, it took my son and myself all of our persuasion to console her also. Worst part she then threw it away. :palm:

Cheers Pup :tu2:

Thanks for your comments Pup  terrible news on the video, I would have been shattered.

After looking at my old pictures I wished i'd taken more over the years.

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for posting up these early images of Mrs Koreshoff and her amazing nursery, especially those pines. I remember reading about them when they were relocated from their growing area to the old NBPCA and I had wondered if they were ever transferred to the new site, to which I recently read about thanks to Leigh. It is great to see they will continue on being, if you get me.

That reminded me Pup of when Ronny Wood was on Top Gear and fessed up to taping the Snooker over his wedding video.

Cheers

Thanks for sharing peeps.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

I have been lucky enough to be given the tour also and some of those Pines were (i think) still there. It was a bit of a shame as they had not been worked on for a while and some of them were swallowing their wire. Appreciate the post Shannon. next time i am up your way are you up for a visit :?:
