I missed this. Going by the photos, I think you have addressed the problem elegantly.
But I am nervous about such shallow pots -- I hope this Summer will not be harsh. I lost several trees in the last one.

Hi Daiviet . mate the tray is 500mm in diameter and 50mm deep . The soil is 100mm at the trunk so i think it will survive another season .I might just throw some more scoria blend on top and probe it in will elevating the tree another 20mm just to be safe .
