I love this tree's fight for survival

Post by Josh »

I went for a walk with my daughter last night and came across this tree. I love it's determination to survive.

With all the rot and decay it still puts on a show.

Wow. Stunning.
There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.

Might be a single flowering cherry - great find! Very dynamic trunk, and wild waving branches.

Thanks for posting,

What a great looking tree and what we aspire to capture in miniature.

It has some awesome deadwood in it yet still pumps out flowers and keeps on going.

When I saw this Bodhi I first thought, imagine if that was in a pot but I still don't know if we can get something to look this realistic in a pot.

Those spines could well be Pyrus calleriana but though the leaves, though they are not very well defined yet, look a little more like plum from here. I have not seen an old specimen of P. calleriana but the bark does not look like the specimens I know either.
Possibly Prunus spinosa??? though I'm not sure what mature Prunus spinosa bark should look like either.
