Curl white grubs found in privet trunks

Post by Bonbon »

Just discover some grubs boring into the dead part of the trunk of my privet tree. They look exactly like those found in root balls and soil, c shaped, white. They left some sawdust under the hole they ate into. I managed to get five of them out and executed. Anyone knows whether these grubs can affect house structure like termites? I usually find them in the roots and soils, first time to found them in the trunk. :lost:

No pictures? Can't help immediately thinking we could need a curl grub gallery, which would include termites, there are so many varieties, and we should be able to recognise the enemy. Taken alongside a coin for sizing. Maybe at different stages like the mud balls they make too.

We all jump on them so quickly the pics never get taken.

My favourite tree is the one I'm working on at any given time.

Thanks Ann. You are right that I should take a picture and probably video the execution. :o
I will try to pick the holes in the trunk when I have time to see whether I can find more. Then I will picture it with my macro lens. :tu:
