ficus defoliate

Post by gate3 »

Helloo cool site lots of information,
I am new to bonsai expreriences and I have some question so I dont destroy my tree.
I have a ficus bonsai and I am thinkin to defoliate ,but am not sure how to do it, I know you cut every leaf
but what my question is, if you cut the green tip at the end that grows the leaves as well leaving the tree with nothing but naked branches.
any info about that would be appreciated :)

Welcome,

It is late summer where you are so a full defoliation is no worries.

Cut off all the leaves (cut through the leaf stalk or petiole) and also trim back all the buds at the tips of the branches( except very weak internal short branches); especially on the apex and strong branches.
