Crab Apple

Post by mudlarkpottery »

My neighbour has very kindly let me have a crab apple growing in his yard. All I had to do was dig it out
If it survives, I will take several air layers with the original tree ending up about 50 - 60cms tall.

Hi MQ. I have an appointment with the Chiro later today.
Hi Psymo. I saw the tree at our street Christmas party and recognized the leaves. My neighbour wasn't drunk when he agreed to let me have it either. Lord Benson is a rescued dog. I've had him for 6 years and he still has nightmares and still follows me around like a bad smell.
Hi Daviet. The tree had started to bud up but I had to cut them all off when I reduced the height. It didn't flower last year so I don't know what the fruit looks like and I've pulled off most of the leaves. This has been the coldest winter for quite a while and a lot of trees didn't lose their leaves - surprisingly. I can't see any fruiting spurs on what's left.Several of the branches have intertwined and self-grafted which could make for an interesting bonsai. Ray Nesci told me I could take several layers on the same trunk at the same time so I'll be giving it a go. I've waited over 6 months to dig it out and want to see a good result asap.
Penny.
