What is it do you know?
Cannot make it out from the pics, but my guess would be cypress of some sort?

I personally wouldn't dig it.
There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.

It's hard to see much from the photos. What makes you want to dig this tree. What features does it have that will make it a good/great bonsai. If you only want to dig because you can, then it's probably not worth it. But if you see something in it that you think will contribute to a great bonsai then may be worth a go. Personally I don't think it's worth digging a tree just because you can but more because it has potential as a bonsai.

Josh.

I think it may have potentional as a bonsai for the fact that the trunk is huge . It could be reduced down to it lowest branch. And with some heavy bending and carving it could possibly be something . The tree is to be removed.
I'm put of collecting by the foliage and the fact it will take up a lot of room.

Can you turn it into a worthwhile Bonsai? if so dig, if not do not waste your time.
