Hi Guys and Gals,
My brother in-law was doing a job the other week and had to pull this tree out for the extension. He rang and said do I want it, knowing nothing about it I said yes. Anyone able to to tell me what it is.
I have no idea what to do with it, but as he went to the effort of taking it home I'll try something, hoping the next one he gets is better for bonsai. If it grows I'll cut it back and go for formal upright.

looks like Grevillea robusta Josh - Silky oak. Not sure how easily they transplant so let us know how it does.

Thanks Shibui think you got it in one. So far it curled a few leaves and dropped a few. It is now holding steady with some leaves still and even put out a few new buds although I think their stored energy. If it survives its a miracle as it copped some rough treatment. Well so far this tree is pushing out buds everywhere including back down the trunk.
This tree was kinda ripped out of the ground and seems to survived so far. Not sure what I'll actually do with it (didnt think it would live) and its a really straight trunk. Maybe let it grow and go for a larger broom style.

Apparently very easy. This thing has gone nuts. It even has buds right back down the trunk to the base.
