I managed to get an hour spare Saturday morning to go check out the Gold Coast Tweed Bonsai Club Show, once again some impressive trees to provide some inspiration. There was 100 trees on display. Well done to everyone who contributed to the show and who put in so much work to make it happen. Wish I could of stayed around to help and watch the demonstrations.
Unfortunately the lighting was difficult to get good photos with. The large fig which won the best large tree award was very impressive, it looks a bit flat in the photo but in real life it invited you in to look into the canopy as if you were trying to find birds, snakes etc. I could have spent a lot of time just exploring this tree.

Some more.
I really like the temple bell (I went out and bought one after seeing this last show) but wonder if it would create a better profile if the bottom right branch was removed? Or would it look a bit skinny in the remaining trunks if the branch was removed?
Love the nebari on the Geisha Girl.

and some more.
As I said before, unfortunately the photo doesn't do the large fig (DSC_0157) justice

Thanks Shinkitai for the photos and thanks to the organisers of this amazing showcase. I went there for a bit on the Saturday morning as well. Incredibly well organised and fascinating to see the talent on the Gold Coast.
The Hinoki Cypress got my vote (there is a photo of it here). It had such rich dark foliage and almost perfect shape and really translated scale with the canopy and branch ramifications.
