Burning bush seeds

Post by yamadorikid »

Hi all!!

I have Euonymus Alatus seeds , or Burning Bush.

I'm not sure how to grow these....
Do I need to soak? Put in fridge or can just plant them.

Seeds were bought online and we're given to me by a friend.

Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks

Hi Yamadorikid, mate a google search will probably give you a better result . I have had numerous Elata as pre bonsai trainers from 10-60mm trunks and they don't make for good bonsai . They have a habit of major die back over winter so all your hard work is lost .

The seeds have a tendancy to rot if planted in winter or in wet soil so i would plant them in early spring . Stratification shouldn't be necessary however in saying that if you have enough simply try both stratified and not .

The European burning bush used as Bonsai in Europe is Europaea not Elata which is the more compact shrub and doesn't have the die back issue as the Elata has .
