[ID] My first bonsai, does anyone know what it could be?

Post by danwhite789 »

Hi everyone,

Another beginner with a Bonsai for Christmas and very excited to get started! Currently I have no information on what species it is or how to care for it, so any and all help would be very greatly appreciated :) If it helps, I live in Sydney.

Thanks!

Hi Dan and welcome. Does it have thorns ? If so I would guess firethorn :lost:

Hi Bougy Fan,

From what I can see it doesn't have any thorns... Here is a closer picture of one of the branches if that helps:

I think it might be a cotoneaster or possibly a serissa what colour were the flowers?
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

Cotoneaster .

Keep it outside. The new growth is extending under inside conditions by the look of it.

I'll get it out there ASAP! Thanks, Hackimoto. Do you have any other care tips for this particular tree?

How long as it been inside? so slowly slowly back into the sun.

I also agree Cotoneaster.

Cheers Pup.

Ps now that I have commented on it, it might die as me and Cotoneasters do not get on.

Let's hope not, Pup! We can break the unlucky streak. I believe that it has been inside for about a week or two.
