Re: [Alpineart] Arbutus Unedo
An update on the progress
Cheers Alpineart
Ihave removed the 2 main trunks to concentrate on the suckers to create a clump style Unedo .These are extremely brittle little buggers so i managed to break a few little trunk off , heavy gauge single core electrical cable has been used as i dont know how long it will take to set or if the bark will markover the next 12 months .Cheers Alpineart

Re: [Alpineart] Arbutus Unedo
Hi Matlea , something a little different about an Arbutus ,i like the sumo base , with a nice canopy it should look the goods , slow growing ,hardy , so we will see how they take to wiring and defoliating over time . Eventually i would like to have a tree around 500mm .
Cheers Alpine

Well i missed the boat on this one . I knew i had another entry but could see the wood for the tree's , too many plants on the benches . Anyway this is a progression although its out of the comp
I will continue it as a topic but not a shohin .You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Arbutus Unedo
Still making progress on plenty of different material .This has had a slip pot to raise the base up , a clean up of the base to expose the new bark , a trim and wire at the same time .
Cheers Alpineart
The base itself measures 185mm wide 125mm wide at ground level .Cheers Alpineart

Re: Arbutus Unedo
I have ignored this tree for a few years just giving it a cut now and then .
Cheers Ian
I cant say when it was last re-potted , obviously some time in the last 8 years . I will take a look at it while I hunt up some heavy wire to manipulate the trunks a little Its green and growing , that's a bonus .Cheers Ian
