:lost: 20 kg only lasts about one year. Does this mean I am to have a very short lifetime Sid?

You might like to check the pack and post the details of which osmocote formulation you have - NPK, duration, etc. they make a whole range of formulations for different purposes.

$45 sounds like an excellent buy for someone in your area no matter what formulation it is.

G'day Shibui!

For the amount of trees I have to fertilise this bag would last me a lifetime! Im unable to use this much fertiliser regardless.

Being that YOU operate a commercial sized nursery I dont argue the fact that this amount would last YOU 12 months. I'm sure most ausbonsai folk would not use this amount in 12 months :tu2:

Not too sure of the formulation as the original packaging had the weather get to it. This is a general purpose osmocote which is why I purchased it originally.
I'm not into formulation make-ups and debating fertilisers in any degree. i've used this on all types of Bonsai with no ill effects.

Cheers

just pulling your leg sid
I agree

Osmocote does go a long way and I find it is a great way to provide a background fert level even when I forget to fertilise as often as I should. I always add osmocote to the potting mix before using it which, as you point out explains why even large bags don't last me all that long ;)

and you are correct that does not matter what the formulation is it will still do the plants a lot of good.

Still a great buy. Split it with friends, club members, use some in the garden, etc. :tu:
