Some sort of citrus maybe?
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

The plant looks like an osmanthus. Possibly Osmanthus fragrans, a member of the olive family. It has opposite leaves that are finely toothed. The flowers will confirm one way or another.
