bare rooting a tiger bark ficus for transporting

Post by fongi »

Hi, I just bought a tiger bark ficus from hong kong. I thinking of bare rooting it and bring it back to my home country, singapore. Will it be safe to do so? and how should I go about doing it? Wrap it with a wet towel?
All advise are greatly appreciated. :D

Oni restriction is the soil. Plants with roots r fine. Is it ok that I wash away all the soil, and pack sphagnum moss around the root ball?

Yes it will be OK like that - if you are only going to have it for say 24 hours out of the pot you wouldn't even need the spag moss :2c:

Hi fongi,

After barerooting it, I would put spagnum moss around the roots to keep them moist as if you do not it does run the risk of drying out. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. Good luck and hope it works out for you.

Cheers
