Between the most welcome showers, no the wind as it blows the showers all over the place so we can get wet too. Anyway here is the start this is a group of Hokkeido/nire geyaki japanese cork bark elms.
The trees have been grown for 5 years now on this slab, there height for those that have not seen them before, is from soil level 20cm.

Unfortunately this little group has suffered our heat extremes badly this season and I have onl3 trees left in the original setting so it is back to the beginning in late March.

Yes we have had here where we live 65 days over 30 and no rain plus the east winds, which are like your westerly's they come off the desert and are hot.GavinG wrote:You seem hotter for longer than on the east coast - is that true?

I've found the heat to be deceptive for the last few weeks. Has left me thinking oh its not so hot, only to run into problems. Its not been so hot here in the north western suburbs but incredibly dry. I went away for two days over the weekend and had issues with my sprinklers 
Thankfully it was in an area with natives in 30 cm growing pots so not a total disaster. Although i did lose one, maybe two. Lucky I checked yesterday when I got home.

Lack of moisture in the air is our real killer, according to BOM
Humidity Midland (pup and Jason) 11% Perth 14% (me) add an easterly to that, and it doesn't take much.
I hope you don't lose any more, pup, I loved that group
