It is now three years since I air layered a stump off the Crepe Myrtle at home.
So far so good, time will tell……

Hi Jamie
You are spot on…..the trunk has split and merged, in fact there is actually a third trunk behind just to add some spice to this one
The parent tree is very old and I love its character, it has split and merged so many times that it is hard to decide which is original and which isn’t. A real mystery with every look.

Steve

Hi Antonio,
The roots are looking really good under the soil. I dont want to expose them at this time.
The air layer was done or rather completed at around Dec 2006 and from memory took about 8 - 10 weeks.
I simply had it cooking in a black open plastic pot which was filled with soil.
It had no branches at the time and looked a pretty strange sight when it had finished cooking.
Easy Peasy to air layer
Regards

It's now 8 years since this large Crepe Myrtle was air layered. Since taking this photo it has bloomed and is covered with flower.
