Hi all,
I agree Grant; the 360 of this Red Pine was an absolute stunner. I can't believe the tree is still in wire.
Cheers,
Brad Jackson.

Re: Japanese Red Pine
We all know the tree was styled by Yusuke Uchida during his last visit to the NBPCA and as such is now vastly improved on what he started with. The next stage of the work eg needle pulling etc will show this to be the case.
However best Red Pine in the world hmmmm!!!!

I am sorry but both aspects of that instatement are incorrect.phantom wrote:I new the tree was designed by Uchida he also did the cedar, two realy nice trees. The red pine might be the best in Canberra?
The red pine was designed by Ric since about 1985. The first styling that I saw was done in the early 1990s at a convention in Sydney where the major bend was put into the tree and it has been slowly crafted, trimmed, chopped, pinched and compacted ever since. At Rics request Ooch helped with the final stage of its most recent work.
Ooch never touched the cedar.
No offence intended but It is very easy to see how misinformation can get out there so I am just correcting the record.

Re: Japanese Red Pine
The 360 gives an great insight into the tree as to where it sits now, thank you to Leigh for going to the trouble of taking the photos and to Steven for putting into the 360 viewing. It certainly is a wonderful old Pine and I cannot wait to view the tree in person (I'm currently trying to convince ric into a daytrip to the collection soon hahaha).
There are a couple of areas I found interesting on how it was styled, I dare not say them as I don't particularly want to read through any more ad homiem comments (which have no place on a forum) like what happened earlier in the thread.
Thanks again for posting this up and I hope the discussion can continue on in a positive direction about the tree only.
Cheers
David
