Ficus with yellow fruit - PJF?

Post by ADO »

There is a ficus tree in a park near to me that bears yellow fruit. In contrast, the Moreton Bay fig in the same park has the usual reddish to dark red (when ripe) fruit. If this ficus is a PJF I want to sow some ficus seeds before the weather gets too cool. the leaves on this ficus appear to be smaller than those of the MBF but have a similar shape. I'll try to get photos when I scoot up there this week.
any help appreciated

cheers

My PJs have yellow fruit so it could well be that. the ficus experts looked at the hole in the end of the fruit for an accurate ID so take close ups of the fruit, esp the end with the hole.

Addz .....get pictures of leaves front and rear, petiole, petiole to leaf junction, fruit, bark, stipules etc for the experts to ID and ....also take some hardwood cuttings you can...then follow the Bonsai Workshop article on "developing figs fast" to get a head start on whats probably workable stock ,given the description of "smaller leaf" as well as going for your seedling plan. Being in WA the fruit may or may not be viable depending on the availability of the right wasps to pollinate the "flower". It could work as I've propogated from seed what I think is PJF in the past.
