Hey Guys
I've got a juni that i rewired the other day, and upon inspection today, i noticed this gouge in the main branch. No idea what it is, looks almost like its pussing green, but it could be the soft wood of the juni.. dunno i've never stripped one back?
But almost looks like its been eaten away by something. I would have noticed if i damaged it this badly during wiring. Its right round the branch like a ring, quite deep, all the way to the hard wood.
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers!
Is this a disease? Or a pest? or just physical damage?

by the look of the angle of the wound, I would suggest you have bruised the bark when you unwound the previous wire you had on it. It should heal up o.k.

I did think that myself, but can this happen after just bruising the bark ? Does fall away like that?

Yep looks like wire damage. The green in the first pic looks like callus starting to grow/heal. I have a branch on one I damaged that looks very similar.
