Intended Directions

Post by timi99 »

I recently purchased a fat little wild olive (Olea europea silvestrys). After spending some time with it I think I have come up with a suitable design and intended direction for the tree. The pictures below show (1) the tree as it is now, (2) a virtualisation of where I would like it to go, and (3) a hand drawn visualisation of the trees intended future.

If all goes to plan I hope to have an agreeable shohin sumo-olive. Let me know what you think?

This was the style that popped out to me when I first looked at your Olive.

The major challenge will be the smaller trunk but if you successfully navigate that I think you will have a very pleasing little (fat) tree in a short space of time.
Let us know how you go!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Yes the smaller trunk might be a bit difficult to manage, but hopefully it will work out.

I will be post the progression of this tree on my blog over the coming months and years.
