The other day I overheard a bonsai nursery owner telling a person that you cannot use cut paste on a graft. Seeing as I am going to try this soon, can anyone tell me why this is the case? For example, why can I not create a graft, seal it with some cut paste and if necessary wrap it with grafting tape?
Thanks
John

Cut paste is to help the wound heal. Grafting paste is to stop infection and moisture I believe, if you put cut paste on two surfaces it will not take.
IN THE LIGHT OF KNOWLEDGE ATTAINED, ACHIEVEMENT IS WITHIN SIGHT
You don't want to accidentally force the cut paste/grafting paste in between the graft which can happen if you apply paste then bind it tight with tape.
I believe grafting paste is in the tube like tooth paste and is the consistancy of thick glue. Cutting paste is in the tub and needs to be rubbed between the hands to warm and soften before use.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
