Hi all, this tree was taken as a seedling from the bottom of my parent's silver birch tree, and I assumed it would be a child of that tree, however, not so... not sure what type of (maple) tree this is??[ID] any ideas?

Thanks guys, yes I thought so too, yet it is very different to all my other LAs, and those growing around the area.

A neighbour cut down a Liquid Amber a few years back and I notice a few large shoots Coming from a root the biggest was about 1.8m the leaves were way bigger then usual. A little bloated i would say. so I'm thinking the same as for yours.

Thanks guys, took a leaf to Ray Nesci's today, and both he and Clinton took a look. Seems to be a variety of LA, solved by crunching up and smelling the leaf!
