ID Please (Clerodendrum

Hey Guys
I know this is a Clerodendrum as I bought it a seeding a couple of years ago and the tag said it was.
Does anyone know if it is an Inerme or if not, what.

Your close up photo is hard to look at unless you squint Paul

It is the clero normally used for bonsai and is misnamed the inerme - but I have no idea what it actually is.

Yes you are right Bougy on two accounts,my photo skills aint real good and yes it is the clero used for bonsai as I bought it up near you from Northside Bonsai a couple of years ago,someone out there must know what they are,it is hard to get any info on,and all the research I have done have rounder leaves.

Yes I would love to know what it is - let us know if you do find out. I think these are very under utilised as bonsai - I find them very fast growing and love the fissured bark they develop so fast. They strike really well from cuttings and benefit very well from sacrifice branches to fatten them up. Are there many of them down south ?

No, not many down here, bit cold I thinks,needs to go in a protected place winter time,yes I like the bark on them, quite unique.
Come on this has got to be the best research place on the planet,look forward to hearing from some of you lurkers out there.

Thanks Boics, yes they are nice little trees ,not that many around that I have seen down here ,just want to keep it as a small tree,the pot is a Penny Mudlark Pot,that I got off her on her sale day a year or two back.
I am going to take another picture of the leaves, and also will try and contact Northside Bonsai in QLD if I can find their email address.

I agree Eusto , as I have looked it up as well the leaf looks very similar but smaller but that may be due to leaf reduction.
The jury is still out on this one.

The flowers look right when I search for an image but as Paul mentioned earlier the leaves are too round looking

I emailed Tess at Northside Bonsai today and she said it was an Inerme.
The leaf shape does not look right more looks like Eusto suggested.
Might never find out if you blokes don't know,what hope have I got, I suppose it does not matter anyway it was just that I am making a database of my Bonsai and it would have been nice to enter it correctly,OH well.

I too have a Clero from Bonsai northside. I am not convinced that it's Clerodendron inerme but haven't got anywhere in trying to definitely identify it. Quite happy though, there's no doubting its suitability for bonsai. Very fast growing and quick to develop interesting bark.

When you find out,will you tell me please,it makes me feel a bit better I am not on my own.
I am pretty sure it is not Inerme, least so we know what it isn't.
Might wait till it flowers.

Hang in there mate. I am from Bundaberg originally and we egotistically consider the fact that it was us who discovered the clero's suitability for bonsai.
I'll get in touch with a few mates on another forum and see what I can rake up.
