Thanks for the comments guys, too many to comment on individually (especially when I'm at work ).
I've considered many times the fact that it's height/width ratio is way out but either thought it wasn't an issue with this one or never had the heart to attack it. Maybe I'll start with taking off one third and see how she looks then. Baby steps... you know...
I was waiting for that one Pup. Trees are often posted without the form they are aiming for. I am unsure where informal upright finishes and Bunjin starts I will leave that up to the experts. I am just trying to get the tree to look how I want. I agree that some lower branches may need to be removed to give a better appearance in this form but I don't believe that excludes it from this form. I doubt I need to tell you what form a tree is to critique it though It is always easier to take a branch off than replace it.
To say always look for the smallest tree is to ignore this form. I have really started to appreciate this form in the last year or so. I feel like a total newb when I get a juniper in my hands and this is not an easy form but as I like them so much it may be the switch that turns the light on with conifers for me.
I would very much like to see the shohin shapes you would have in mind for material like teejay's. I am sure it will not be the last time I have one to work on.

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
