The annual Japan Festival is on again this Sunday (18th May) at Box Hill Town Hall and TAFE, and Waverley Bonsai Group again have been invited to exhibit a display of bonsai up in the Matsudo room J5 in the Box Hill town hall. We will have WBG members there, so come along and say "konnichiwa" and chat bonsai.
So if you're into all things Japanese this festival is for you! From traditional dancing to weird and wacky toys, second hand Kimonos, food, ikebana and bonsai displays plus heaps more.

Re: WBG at Japan Festival 2014
Well what a great day! Great food, entertainment, Ikebana and Bonsai
Fantastic to talk bonsai with so many people, our room saw hundreds of people passing through - often 30 at a time - to have a look at our display and hopefully most walked away with an appreciation for bonsai, if not a better understanding of the art. Thanks to those who ventured along
Sorry about the phone photos (remembered the bonsai
, but forgot to bring the camera
) For a better view hopefully we'll see you next year

Thanks for the photos mate, looks like a nice little set up
Really happy to hear there was a big turn out, the more exposure to the general public, the better
Is that a display of mini pots I can see in the last pic? Am quickly building a collection of my own, I love the little mini's

Re: WBG at Japan Festival 2014
Hi Jason, all the mini pot were displayed for sale and are handmade by Joann memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=5651. Those ones ranged in sizes from about 8cm and vary all the way down to teenie-tinies that are not much bigger than a 5 cent piece! I've collected quite a few myself
I'm sure postage wouldn't be a problem for the mini pots if you were interested
She also makes quite a diverse range of larger pots as well

I also just saw someone else's collection of tiny pots, and a few were from Joann I think... I I might just have to get into contact with her

Going to try and actually grow something in them this year, rather then just admiring the pots
