Hi all, Thanks for taking me on board as this is my first time and im new to the Bonsai world.
you have a wonderful site and i hope it increases my knowledge of everything bonsai.
Now for a quick question.
I have just got my hands on a Green Island Ficus and its a little long in the branches and height so a heavy prune is in order.
My question is though, how do i encourage air roots on the branches??? it has a lot coming from the trunk (aprox 20 or so) but none where I really want them.
Any help or ideas would be great.
A big THANKS in advance in advance from sunny Cairns.

I don't get much aerial root action where I'm from, as it require humid conditions... in cairns, you should be able to just close your eyes and they will appear
haha
I can't give much advice, but those threads should have some very helpful tips

I find the best way is to put it on a saucer of fine gravel and keep it filled with water. The gravel stops the mossies breeding and creates humidity.

Thanks for the tip. The gravel is a top idea as mossies are quite bad at my place as i live near a creek.Bougy Fan wrote:I find the best way is to put it on a saucer of fine gravel and keep it filled with water. The gravel stops the mossies breeding and creates humidity.
