I used natural raffia on two of my trees last year (a young persimmon and a more advanced wisteria) left it in place for 6 months and found on removing it that both trees had mealy bug infestations hidden under the raffia.
I nearly lost the persimmon. Only became aware of the problem when branches started to die back. I unwrapped the trunk and found the little bug(ger)s.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Does the electrical tape offer a possible a possible solution to this?
