Last September I started working with this Chinese Flowering Quince that I got for this little nursery that is impossible to find but is run by someone who does grows souly for the fun of the different and interesting plants he has.
This was the one I left with at the time. It was one out of six. It was growing in a sand and compost mix which is why it has such interesting roots. I was told it will flower pink but I haven't seen that yet.
I just couldn't get the top of the tree to conect to the bottom of the tree. As a result I decided to air layer the top off and work the two havles.
And this is what I have got so far.

Re: Chinese Flowering Quince Layered
I would like to know what is the reason You have curved it like that...Is it to make it look like two branches?
Very straight trunk...but I suspect you will manage to do something good from it...Good luck.

Re: Chinese Flowering Quince Layered
It started out just to get rid of the rot in the trunk and cut away a drainage path for the water. It is shaped like a blown out top of a Mountian Ash stag. Which made more sense when it was taller but now I think it will be hollowed out and become a root over rock.
Patience is often a surprise.

Re: Chinese Flowering Quince Layered
There was a bad week of hot days in summer. They both turned there noses up and died. It was a bad summer for me.

Patience is often a surprise.
