Hi Rudi,

Thanks for the kind comment. The pot does look a dash higher and I do agree with you that a slightly shallower pot will look better. However, I have to balance the mass of foliage in the crown of the plant with the root mass. If I can find a suitable pot it might be worth a try.

The Kingsville box is a slow grower as with all the buxus species. Even then, this bonsai within the three months, it has grown somewhat more bushy and has to be pruned back. Looking at the bonsai it appears that I did not do any work on it, but I can assure you that I did.....on the external canopy and the internal (within the canopy) as well. The moss you can see have changed during the summer months. I have also removed the moss that was growing around the lower part of the trunk.

Although it looks like there are no changes, some of the leaves seemed to have started to change colour with the onset of autumn. Not all leaves will do this, only a few. It won't be growing very much now as it is getting cold at night and the day temperatures are low 20s. Very soon it will be low 10s. I don't mind with this bonsai as it has already reached the ultimate shape that I wanted it to be.

This Kingsville boxwood bonsai has been retaining this shape for a long time. It survived the very cold winter this year outside but under a covered pergola. This is the broom shape that I started with and will continue to be this shape for a long time to come. The only changes that will happen to it is to prune back any branches that tend to wander away from the overall silhouette. If it gets too dense especially in the canopy, shoots or leaves will be removed from within to allow light and air to pass through. Not only will it look better but it will definitely be healthier.
