This was put together this morning after being side tracked yesterday . I carved a deep groove into the red gum root after marking the appropriate outline for the trunk

. I have used the trunk splitters to aid in the bending , with a 30mm trunk it was a tough ask to manipulate . Inserting the trunk without removing the bark inside the groove as some suggest then set about screwing it together , I did have a couple of area's that lifted the bark so i have used grafting tape to secured the flaps back onto the trunk . With the trunk secured , a quick wire and basic shape and it will go back out with all the other material .Another Phoenix Graft - Tanuki

Some good lines going on there Alpine.
With a pot, wire and a shape some time down the line I'm certain this will look a treat!
Thanks for posting/inspiring!

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Definitely not enough time. Can never have too many projects. Gotta keep the creative juices flowing.
Oh, and good work.

Hi Dansai , never enough time in a day , but then again time means nothing when you have no routines or deadlines to work too . Definately not a 9-5 guy .

This has had its first serious styling over the course of the Albury show . Unfortunately no pics of the show worked out {bloody camera or operator} so i shot this at home
Cheers .Alpineart
. Around seven hours to wire and style this while talking to the few public members who entered the horticultural pavilion .The main trunk/leader was rotated 360 degrees with a 180 degree twist to form the new apex .Thunderstorms and rain made for poor attendance on Saturday , Sunday was very good as far as the public traffic flow through the building was concerned .Cheers .Alpineart
