[VOTE] Shohin Styling Competition 2013-2014. REFINE
The objective of the REFINE category in the AusBonsai Shohin Progressive Styling Competition was to continue to refine the entries from the 2011-2012 competition with the view of creating the best possible Shohin sized bonsai (under 250mm tall) over a period of 18 months.
We originally had 149 entries but due to several factors, 140 entries were disqualified or withdrawn leaving only 9 who continued the competition.
Please find following, in alphabetical order based on the artists name, the finalists in the AusBonsai Shohin Progressive Styling Competition 2013-2014. The 3 highest ranking trees based on your votes will receive the following:
1st prize - Hand crafted shohin pot by Pat Kennedy of Mirkwood Forest Bonsai Pottery
2nd prize - Japanese carbon steel root/branch shears
3rd prize - Japanese stainless steel tweezers with spatula
Please select your 3 favourite trees from the poll above and submit your vote on or before 7th November 2014. The results will be shown progressively as the voting takes place and the winners will be announced here on AusBonsai.
Don't forget to also vote in the CREATE category.
Please feel free to post your comments about the entries, the competition or even suggestions for future competitions.
Regards,
Steven

Re: [VOTE] Shohin Styling Competition 2013-2014. REFINE
Hugh's ligustrum stood out for me in this group given the refinements he has made in the mast 18 months. Everything I look at it I admire all the "rules" that have probably been broken.
A fine looking group of trees though from everyone.

Stood out for me too, because it is pictured twice above.
Bonsai was meant to keep me away from the computer.
