I am completely baffled by what you are trying to achieve with the construction of pumice, sand and a touch of compost
Can you explain the plan?
Thanks
Hi Edward You should check out Fuku bonsai from Hawaii. They specialize with dwarf shefflera. They make what they call sumo bonsai and dragon bonsai. Dragon bonsai have exposed root trunks. They make theirs with aluminum foil. Which looks too fragile for me so I made one. The media I chose was for a fast draining and the coarse sand should prune the roots. I used this medium with most my pre bonsai . The roots grow very fast. And have a wonderful color.
nice concept--how do you know if the roots from each separate plant have reached the bottom--do you gradually remove the housing from top down over several years
Thanks you guys. I've been wanting to try this for two years. Guy you got it. You gradually uncover the roots . I will leave the chicken wire on when the roots harden.
