my first JBP

Post by Dane H »

hi all just thought id share my first JBP, I had been giving them a wide birth due to limited understanding of what is required to maintain and improve untill around 2 years ago, I picked up what i thought was a good start from bonsai at the bay, watched it grow in a stock pot till late winter last year I potted it up.not sure if the pot suits as I havn't quite got a grasp on that yet, Seems to be going quite well, let me know what you guys think..ill upload current pics soon

Cheers, Dane

Looks healthy enough
Is that 2 branches from the same spot on the right? If so I woud remove 1 and bend the remaining one down further. the bottom branch on pines should hang down below the join at the trunk to give the impression of being weighted down by snow.

Typically Pines are in unglazed pots. they re a Strong masculine type of tree and thus usually in rectangle pots.

heres the updated shot taken this morning, the pulled the RH branch down a little as ken suggested, im worried about removing one of those RH branches, did you suggest the removal of 1 to avoid swelling or reverse taper in that area??
