Discussions about propagating from cuttings, seeds, air layers etc. Going on a dig (Yamadori) or thinking of importing? Discuss how, when and where here.

Mate, that thing is never going to amount to anything - chuck it into a box and mail it up to me, although I don't believe I could make anything half decent out of it, at east you wont have to look at it anymore. ;)

Nice development for such a short time span mate. :tu:

Thanks Graeme, feed the bejesus out of them i say. I have just finished wiring and the tree has a LOONNNGGG way to go but i have most main branches now. It is a complicated tree and will only get more so as it develops ramification. I left a fruit on it as it is the first time it has fruited for me and i got all Motherly  I appreciate criticism both good and not so good. :tu2:

This tree has also roared back into life after its last defoliation.

Hey bodhi,

How do you find their root systems? I have heard that once collected they can produce weak roots in a potted environment.

Joe.

Hi Jow, yes that is correct. They are very similar to Fuschia in their root habits. Not a lot produced but they do not miss a beat. I think it is an advantage as i do not have to repot as often. Every three or four years. The difference to fuschia is that they dont kill off any branches on repot like Fuschia does.

I dont suffer that problem and find quite the opposite, but i feed my trees heavily.

Time to work the Arbutus. It will be defoliated and dewired and check to see if the branching has set into place. Hoping for a lot of secondary branches in the right place. :fc:
